HPIMS can be an essential tool for quality control in the food manufacturing industry. It is a high throughput method, which means that many samples can be tested and compared in order to determine the consistency of a product.
Quantification by HPIMS is done by comparing the area of peaks produced by a certain compound. Excellims’ VisIon software package includes tools that make this process simple. Any compound run on a calibrated HPIMS instrument can be added to a user-generated library. That library contains information about the compound, its drift time, and its optimal instrument settings. Library entries can be associated with a method, so that parameters can be recalled when that compound is run at a later date. The precision of a data set (an important measure in quality control) and quantification curves are calculated by the software and stored as part of the library entry for that compound.
