Founded in 2005, Excellims has well over a decade of experience in developing ion mobility and mass spec technology. Founder and chief executive officer, Dr Ching Wu, was research leader for GE Security’s chem/bio and explosives detection division, where he led and joined the developments of many of the ion mobility systems that are used throughout security, illicit drug detection, and airport screening today. Dr. Wu has pioneered the development of HPIMS (high performance ion mobility spectrometry).

Know quickly if there are trace chemicals of interest to deal with in your sample

Why is this important?  With HPIMS’ high resolving power: 60-110 (which exceeds HPLC’s) you can be alerted to contamination in your sample immediately, rather than sending it off to a lab for HPLC analysis. For example traces of residual product after a pharmaceutical production batch, or potential contaminants during food processing.

Why is this important? Traditional integrated instruments (IMS-MS) are operated under vacuum therefore tied to a lab bench. HPIMS combines ambient pressure high performance ion mobility technology with a patented intelligent vacuum system. The MC3100 is an integrated ion mobility-MS instrument with high ion mobility resolution and better than unit mass resolution in a small footprint, bringing the technique to the point of risk, and into the hands of operators who need the highest fidelity chemical detection where it is needed most, at line.
