High Performance IMS for collision cross-sectionsThis application note describes how the MA3100 HPIMS (high performance ion mobility spectrometer) is available as a module for Thermo  Fisher Scientific Orbitrap and  LTQ mass spectrometers (MS), for resolving isomers and isobars that hinder MS‐only methods.

These capabilities are further enhanced by the ability to perform electrospray ionization  (ESI)  directly from the sample syringe,  greatly reducing carryover by eliminating transfer lines and allowing rapid switching between samples.

One of the key advantages of High Performance IMS is the ability to directly probe structural information via the collision cross-section (CCS), which is related to the experimentally determined ion mobility
