Atmospheric pressure drift tube ion mobility is a powerful addition to the Orbitrap mass spectrometer enabling direct separation of isomers by their size and shape. In this collaboration with CEA and Thermo Fisher Scientific, an Excellims MA3100 high resolution AP-DT-IMS was coupled to an Orbitrap to study the separation of metabolite and other biologically relevant isomers using drift gas mixtures for improved separation.
